Could Leicester City’s €13m Bid For Inter Milan Target Eder Trigger Jamie Vardy’s Move To Chelsea FC?

Leicester City are in a direct battle with Inter Milan for Sampdoria striker Eder, and it looks like the Premier League leaders are currently ahead in their race to land him.

The Foxes have been on an unbelievable run of form this season, surpassing giants like Arsenal FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea FC, to take the top spot in the Premier League. However, there have been a lot of questions raised about the lack of depth in the Leicester City’s squad, as we enter the business end of the season.

The questions that have been raised have mostly been about how they would be able to keep up with the fixtures that come along thick and fast at this stage of the season. However, Claudio Ranieri’s men have been answering most of these questions and have been able to sustain their good run at the top of the table, with a 3-0 win against Stoke City last weekend.

Now it seems that the Foxes are about to get another boost to their attack, as Serie A club Sampdoria have accepted a bid for their forward Eder, according to Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte.

Sampdoria settle for less than Eder’s market value

It has been reported that Sampdoria have accepted a bid of around €13 million for the Brazilian striker. Surprisingly however, Eder is valued at €15 million by Transfermarkt, and it seems that Leicester City might be getting him a bit cheaper than previously anticipated.

Inter falling behind

Inter Milan have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian, but the fact remains that Roberto Mancini’s team are yet to make a formal offer for Eder. Sampdoria have indicated that they are open to selling the striker, if the offer is good enough. Meanwhile as Leicester City are now allowed to hold contract talks with Eder, it seems that the Nerazzurri are falling behind in the race to land the 29-year-old’s signature.

Are Leicester City preparing to bid Jamie Vardy adieu?

The Foxes already have three quality forwards in their squad in the form of Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki, and Leonardo Ulloa. Thus the question that arises is why would they spend so much money to get another striker? A part of the reason could be because Claudio Ranieri has been playing the 4-4-2 formation with the Foxes, and another striker would only help in adding to the firepower, and keep their other forwards fresh as well.

However, this might also be an indication that Leicester are making their provisions in case they are compelled to sell off their top striker Jamie Vardy, who has scored 16 league goals for them so far and is the highest goalscorer in the Premier League. There have been rumours that Chelsea FC are desperately trying to land the in-form striker to improve their shattered fortunes this season.
