Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has not gained the confidence of many Liverpool FC fans since his arrival at Anfield, and his errors this season have only reinforced the notion that the Reds need to enter the transfer market for a first-choice keeper
Mignolet is approaching 100 Premier League appearances for Liverpool FC since his arrival in 2013 from Sunderland, and it appears as though the Belgian might well reach twice that amount during his time at Anfield.
According to several reliable reports on Tuesday, the 27-year-old is set to sign a long-term contract extension with the Reds that will keep him at the club till 2021. The news has understandably infuriated Liverpool FC fans who want to see a new No 1 between the sticks, although this move by the club could just be to protect his transfer value if he were to be sold.
Here is some of the best reaction on Twitter to the news:

If Mignolet is still our no.1 keeper in September, that’s when I’ll be concerned. — Andy Wales (@AndyArmchair) January 13, 2016
Mignolet on £90k a week is going to prove disastrous when the club finally realises his a liability. No one will want him on those wages.

Awarding #mignolet a new #lfc contract is hopefully a #klopp decision to preserve his transfer value ahead of a sale next season. — Sherief Razzaque (@strazzaque) January 13, 2016
How on earth is Mignolet being offered a new contract by Liverpool?
