Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has recovered from the injury he sustained on international duty to start against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost as star goalkeeper David de Gea has been passed fit to start in the blockbuster clash against arch rivals Liverpool. The Spaniard had picked up an injury on international duty and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had seemed doubtful over his involvement, but he has been named in the starting XI.

Victor Lindelof returns to the side at the heart of the Manchester United defence after not being involved last time out. The Swede partners Harry Maguire at the centre, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka has recovered from his tonsilitis to start at right-back. Academy graduate Axel Tuanzebe gets the nod at left-back ahead of Marcos Rojo.

Solskjaer has opted to stick with Scott McTominay and Fred in the midfield double pivot for Manchester United. Nemanja Matic is absent from the matchday squad. Andreas Pereira gets another chance to impress in the No.10 role for the Red Devils. The Brazilian will be flanked by Daniel James and captain Ashley Young, who is set to start as a winger after a long time.

However, there is a possibility that Young is stationed at left-back with Tuanzebe moving into a defensive midfield role in a 4-3-3 setup, with Pereira and James on the flanks, or a three-man backline with Young and Wan-Bissaka as the wing-backs.

Spearheading the Manchester United attack against Liverpool is Marcus Rashford. The Red Devils can call upon Anthony Martial from the bench, after the Frenchman is back from an eight-week long injury layoff. Youngster Mason Greenwood is also among the substitutes, having recovered from a back problem.

Late Update: Tuanzebe suffered a hip injury during warm-up and has been replaced by Marcos Rojo in the side.
