Manchester United Confirmed lineup vs Brighton: Rashford, Martial both start; Mourinho shakes up defence

In what is a bizarre move from Jose Mourinho, Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo start for Manchester United in defence against Brighton.

Jose Mourinho’s press conference seemed to have hinted at an affinity towards selecting players who have a chance of representing their nation in Russia in the summer. Thus, the selection of Matteo Darmian is rather baffling, who starts on the right side of the back four against Brighton.

Manchester United fans would be loving Marcos Rojo’s return to the starting lineup as the Argentine starts alongside Chris Smalling. But, Victor Lindelof will be disappointed to not retain his place, especially after his Man of the Match performance against Arsenal.

Alexis Sanchez drops to the bench as well; as does Ander Herrera. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial start in attack, with Juan Mata completing the front three while Marouane Fellaini takes Ander Herrera’s place in the three-man midfield.
