Liverpool faced Sunderland at the Stadium of Light with a chance to cut Chelsea’s lead to just 3 points at the top of the Premier League table.

While Sunderland started admirably, a corner saw the Black Cats’ hard work being undone. Dejan Lovren got on the end of the corner but his mistimed kick found the head of Daniel Sturridge who nudged it over Vito Mannone into net.

While Sturridge’s movement illustrated his brilliant intuition as a striker, the finish was no less charismatic as he headed it past Mannone with his back to the goal.
