Liverpool were looking to recover from a draw against Southampton as they hosted Sunderland on Saturday. The Reds were expected to make a statement after a drab 0-0 result at Southampton. But Sunderland started the fixture on a positive note and managed to keep Liverpool’s attacking players at bay for the entirety of first half.

It looked like the Reds were heading towards another goalless result with the scoreline reading 0-0 after more than 4/5th of the game. But Divock Origi opened the scoring for the Reds while James Milner added to the lead in additional time by converting from the penalty spot.
