On Thursday, Ecuador beat Chile 3-0 in a World Cup 2018 qualifying match. However, the biggest story of the game was that of striker Enner Valencia, who bizarrely faked an injury to avoid the police. With the game in the bag, the Everton forward astonishingly went to the ground in the dying stages of the game and was carried off the ground by a stretcher with an oxygen mask to his face.

While it initially appeared to be a serious injury situation, it was later understood that the police were present on the side of the pitch waiting to arrest the player. Valencia owes a staggering €15,000 in child support for his five-year-old daughter.

Fox Sports later revealed that the arrest warrant was revoked after the match. While the judicial process regarding the late child support is still ongoing, Valencia will not be arrested and has rejoined the national team camp.
