Neymar effectively carried the burden of Lionel Messi’s absence on in his shoulders as he scored two goals against a tame Sporting Gijon side to see his side win 5-0.

The Brazilian did not provide the final pass to Rafinha’s goal, but was the orchestrator in setting it up. He finally did manage to get his name on the scoresheet late on in the 81st minute and within moments added a second to seal the deal for the Catalan Giants.

His movement down Barca’s left was sublime and he was involved in link-ups with the likes of Luis Suarez and Sergi Roberto.
