A host of fringe players start for Manchester United as Jose Mourinho looks to bounce back from three successive defeats with a win in the EFL Cup tie.
Jose Mourinho has named several changes to the side that lost 3-1 to Watford at Vicarage Road with Schneiderlin and Carrick playing in the pivot role replacing Fellaini and Pogba. Mourinho has named the trio of Memphis, Ander Herrera and Ashley Young to play in front of the pivot with Herrera playing the number 10 role.
Sergio Romero starts in goal while the Portuguese has handed Timothy Fosu-Mensah his first appearance of the season. Mourinho has opted to go for the pairing of Smalling and Blind in the centre of the defence.

The biggest news, though, is that Wayne Rooney leads the attack for Manchester United after speculation that Jose Mourinho is unhappy with the player’s performance in the number 10 role for the club.

The Portuguese is likely to aim at snapping the poor run of three successive defeats after a good start as Manchester United manager and prove to fans, pundits and legends of the club that he is indeed the right man for the job.
