Three Lions manager Sam Allardyce has already named his starting lineup for his first match in charge against Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
Former West Ham and Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce, who makes his debut as England national manager on Sunday, announced his starting lineup for the game more than 24 hours before it starts.
BREAKING: England XI to face Slovakia: Hart, Walker, Cahill, Stones, Rose, Dier, Henderson, Lallana, Rooney, Sterling, Kane. #SSNHQ
— Sky Sports News HQ (@SkySportsNewsHQ) September 2, 2016
His team bears a striking resemblance to the one that got knocked out of the European Championship by Iceland. Three Lions fans were furious that Allardyce had selected off form Harry Kane and Jordan Henderson over the in-form Leicester City duo of Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy.
Some fans also called attention to the exclusion of Luke Shaw, who has had three brilliant games for Manchester United.
England starting 11?
Tell me Harry Kane is in better form than Vardy? Convince me Henderson should be in instead of Drinkwater. I’m biased— Ian Stringer (@StringerSport) September 2, 2016

No Shaw or Smalling. Hope Slovakia slap Fat Sam back to the chippy.

Fat Sam deserves credit for picking the right system and most of the right players. But Rooney doesn’t get in the team in my opinion

Sam Allardyce starts Lallana, Hart, Kane as well as bloody Henderson who have done sh*t for their clubs and doesn’t start Luke Shaw!
— JamesHames (@JdotJames) September 2, 2016

— David Mitchard (@DavidMitchard1) September 3, 2016
Allardyce’s first England team is basically the flops who couldn’t beat Iceland! Henderson shit, Kane shit, no shaw. lallana & sterling in!

Why change the manager & keep the same team. Vardy & Drinkwater in better form than hendo & Kane. Starting to wonder who picks the team #eng
— Nathan wilkins (@NayWilkins) September 3, 2016
How does Henderson start ahead of Drinkwater, what’s Kane done since bottling the league to be ahead of Vardy? Same different day #England
— Roy Bennett (@ThriveRoy) September 2, 2016
Vardy and Drinkwater performed consistently at a level higher than any other player in that #England squad. The highest level possible.
— Ryan Murrant (@ryanmurrant) September 2, 2016
Anyone would think Vardy and Drinkwater had to be EPL winners to get in the #England team. Oh wait….
