Liverpool emerged shock victors over Barcelona in their final International Champions Cup encounter, with Sadio Mane’s heroics handing the Reds an emphatic 4-0 victory over the Blaugrana.

It was a memorable evening for those in red at Wembley as Liverpool rounded off their International Champions Cup campaign with a superb 4-0 victory over La Liga champions Barcelona. The Blaugrana were ripped apart by Jurgen Klopp’s side, whose high pressing ‘heavy-metal football’ proved to be too much to handle for Luis Enrique’s team.

Sadio Mane put Liverpool ahead in the 15th minute when a speedy counter-attack initiated by an Adam Lallana interception at the centre of the park culminated in the Senegal forward firing the ball past Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal. A second-half blitzkrieg saw Liverpool rush ahead to a 3-0 lead in the space of two minutes thanks to Divock Origi and a Javier Mascherano own goal.

Marko Grujic’s outrageous looping header off a Lazar Markovic cross sneaked past Claudio Bravo in the 92nd minute to make it 4-0 and round off a brilliant display from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
