Liverpool playmaker Joe Allen is all set to complete a £13 million switch to fellow Premier League outfit Stoke City.
On Wednesday, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp accepted a £13 million bid from Stoke City for midfielder Joe Allen. The Welsh midfielder was linked with an exit since the transfer window opened, and it now looks like he is set to join forces with Mark Hughes at the Britannia Stadium. Allen had an impressive Euro 2016 campaign and was part of the Team of the Tournament, so the decision to let him go for a price that low baffled the Liverpool faithful.
Here’s how the Reds fans reacted on Twitter:
Will always remember this. Cheers Joe.https://t.co/2PTtY1Ksd9

I don’t want to send Joe Allen to Stoke. It’s like sending baby Jesus to a Syrian warzone.

I can’t believe we’re selling Joe Allen

Joe Allen, the best Welsh midfielder ever, beard frozen in the Stoke winds, feeding Shaqiri through balls like he was born to do it.

Lots crying about Joe Allen. At least they’ve got all the memories of his great goals and assists and the trophies he helped us win… #LFC

Disappointing to see Joe Allen on his way out of @LFC thought he may have had another season to prove he is actually better than Henderson

Some however saw it as good business done by the Liverpool boss:
I understand our fans like Joe Allen and he had a good end to the season but he’s a squad player at most and £13m for him is decent. #LFC

Bit of a shame to see Joe Allen but I think it’s a good move for him. He deserves regular football. #LFC

13million for Joe Allen. Not a bad deal clever with the ball. Not sure stoke will get the best out of him with style of play

The “Welsh Xavi” would sorely be missed at Anfield.
Dutch media saying Joe Allen is on his way to Stoke city! We always wondered if the Welsh Xavi could do it on a cold winter night in Stoke.

I hope we don’t sell off the Welsh Xavi. He’s the last meme we have left.
