The former Manchester City striker signed for newly promoted Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal.
Negredo endured a difficult spell in the La Liga with Valencia after signing from Manchester City in the summer of 2014. The 30-year old played a pivotal role in City’s 2013/14 double winning season, scoring 23 goals in 48 appearances. He would have likely contributed even more during that season had it not been for an injury he sustained in the middle of the season. His sudden drop in form saw him get shipped off to Los Che, where he struggled to hit the same kind of form, scoring only 18 goals over the course of 2 seasons.
Negredo, though bereft of confidence at the moment, could go on to become one of the signings of the summer if manager Airtor Karanka gets him playing back to his best. After acquiring former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, Ajax’s Viktor Fischer and Negredo’s Valencia teammate Antonio Barragan, the former Manchester City striker’s signing for Boro put the fans in collective disbelief.
Negredo is such a good signing for Boro, had an unreal 13/14 season with City. Boro have an amazing side.

Reckon Negredo’s an excellent signing for Boro. Difficult couple of years but tailor-made for the PL.

The Negredo #Boro are getting is not in great shape, but as a loan, it’s a punt most of us would take. Has proven he can win PL games.

121 – Alvaro Negredo has scored 121 goals in the Big 5 European leagues since 07/08; the most of any Spanish player during this period. Ace.

Pretty sure the reason Al Negredo left City was because his wife was homesick, yet he’s just signed for Middlesbrough ?
— Lewis (@Lewis93_) July 20, 2016
