Manchester United drew flak from supporters and critics alike as Louis van Gaalai??i??s men struggled against Sheffield United in the FA Cup. Though Wayne Rooney successfully converted from the spot in the dying minutes of the match, Unitedai??i??s lackluster performance against a League One side drew the ire on social media.
The fact that Van Gaal defended himself in the post-match press conference did little to comfort the fans. Paul Scholes did not hold back any punches and went so far as to claim that even Van Gaal looked bored on the sidelines as United struggled to penetrate the Sheffield defence.
Hereai??i??s how social media reacted as United managed to scrape past Sheffield United in the FA Cup.
#LVG look away! Paul Scholes doesn’t hold back as he slams another “boring” @ManUtd display. #MUFC #EmiratesFACup https://t.co/CfS8QvlzrA

However, much of the criticism was directed towards Louis van Gaal, especially in the light of his post-match comments as the Dutchman remained ‘bullish’ over his team’s performance.
If this doesn’t typify Van Gaal’s attitude at @MUFC then I don’t know what does. Astounding, yet expected: https://t.co/MO2BSYXcc2

Sometimes it’s right for managers to be bullish and sometimes it’s not. Van Gaal wanting to talk about Sheff U’s lack of chances looks daft. ai??i?? Rob Dawson (@RobDawsonMEN) January 9, 2016
Van Gaal must understand why the fans are getting frustrated. League One side at home, two deep midfielders, 75% possession, one shot.

Having backed the manager for a season and a half, it seems that the fans have finally made up their mind over the controversial manager. While those present at Old Trafford responded to the team with enthusiastic jeers, others took to social media to vent their frustration against Van Gaal’s tactics.
Van Gaal is poison. We’re in a coma. Can’t be arsed to spend any more time thinking about it. Didn’t celebrate. Don’t care. ai??i?? Richard Cann (@RichardCann76) January 9, 2016
