Real Madrid Line Up Shock Bid For Manchester United Defender

Spanish giants Real Madrid are looking to bolster their squad and have set their sights on an unlikely source, struggling Premier League side Manchester United, for an additional defender.

Marcos Rojo was transferred to Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon for 14 million pounds and the left-back was initially thought to be an ideal signing for the club under new manager Louis van Gaal, but Rojo has fallen out of favour with the manager.

The Argentine has not featured regularly in the starting XI and is currently sidelined with injury. The position of left-back is also pretty much reserved for Luke Shaw when the English youngster recovers from his broken leg.

Real interest in Rojo

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in lining up a bid for the out of favour Manchester United defender to help increase their squad depth, and his low price-tag seems additionally alluring for Los Blancos, according to Fichajes.net.

Although Rojo doesn’t come under the category of the Galactico type player that Real Madrid are usually interested in, the 25-year-old Argentine is supposedly being brought in as a back-up for Brazilian left-back Marcelo. This will mean that he will be in the same position at Real Madrid as he is currently at Manchester United and this part of the deal will not appeal to Rojo very much.

The Argentine could prefer to be at the Santiago Bernabeu

South American players have a tendency to gravitate towards the Spanish giants these days, and manage to thrive in La Liga because of its attacking style and quick play. This could interest Marcos Rojo enough to want to make the move to a club where some of his illustrious national teammates like Angel di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain have made a name for themselves.
