Liverpool FC Team News: Injury Crisis Opens Way For Ojo, Ilori To Make Reds’ Bow

Liverpool FC will be without a number of key players, including any fit senior central defender with a very young squad set to play against Exeter.

The Reds have a number of key players out to injury, 11 in total, with six of them hamstrung.

.

Coutinho and Lovren succumbed to the hamstring injuries against Stoke in the League Cup, with Toure also joining Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho on the treatment table.

Defensive crisis to throw open opportunity for Ilori, Enrique

Liverpool FC have no fit central defender, Klopp could play Jose Enrique in central defence, a fullback who was frozen from the first team by Brendan Rodgers.
He is likely to partner the Portuguese Tiago Ilori in defence, who has been recently recalled from his loan spell at struggling Aston Villa.
Ilori did not feature in a single first team game at the club and Liverpool FC fans will hope Tim Sherwood’s assessment of him was off the mark.

Klopp provides injury updates

Asked what side he would select, Klopp was quoted saying by Sky Sports: a Very young. None of the players who played the last five or six games in a row will play at Exeter. That is not possible. Then we can try and make a team. It is not easy, but we will try and find one.

a The team that plays will want to win 100 per cent, but it is true that it wonai??i??t be a team that has played together often. Our squad is big with all the young players and we have to use this quality now.a

Providing an update on injuries, Klopp said: “Kolo was cramp but after three days he’s not available. Next week, not a problem.

“Dejan will be available after Manchester United [January 17] and Phil needs one or maybe two weeks longer. But we don’t know exactly. It’s really rare it’s quicker. I don’t know yet who will be available. We will train in two hours and then we will see.”

Henderson, Sturridge and Origi are also on the injury table and are unlikely to play any part in the game.
