Arsene Wenger - Arsenal FC Manager | Can Arsenal FC Win The Premier League This Season? | Debate

Wenger will be itching for some silverware

In October this year, Arsene Wenger will complete 20 years as Arsenal manager but the Frenchmana s hunger stays intact. The 65-year-old, who is by far the most experienced manager in the Premier League now, has admitted to being gutted each any fan after his side face defeat.

Wenger, in fact, says he goes into a quarantine modea and does his best to stay out of peoplea s way so they dona t suffer along with him.

Over the second part of his reign at Arsenal, the club went through a nine year trophy drought which ended last year when the club went on to lift the FA Cup by defeating Hull City in the final.

During that time, Wenger has come under severe criticism from a major section of Arsenal fans. These fans include former players such as Emmanuel Petit who said that he had been left disappointed by the cluba s performance a year after yeara .

Wengera s side are the form side in the Premier League at the moment, winning 14 out of their last 16 games in all competitions. The club are third in the league and have also made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

It is perhaps that superb run of form that enabled Wenger to talk so freely about the unhappy times.

“I never go out after we lose, I just sit at home miserably and think about why we lost,” Wenger told Arsenal magazine.

“Ia ve had periods where Ia ve stayed at home for two or three days. If we have not got a game for a while, and we have lost, there are times when I have not gone out for days.

“It really hurts. If it does not, you will never survive in the game.

“People who live around you suffer with you, so the only thing I can do is try to get out of other peoplea s way.

“I try to be like a dog who is sick a I go away into quarantine and come back when Ia m cured!”

Arsenal welcome Liverpool to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as they look to extend that fantastic run of form.
