Arsenal FC manager ArsA?ne Wenger is confident his team will show the right mentality to bounce back immediately from a shock 4-0 defeat against Southampton when they take on the Cherries at the Emirates on Monday

The Gunners have emerged as genuine title contenders with Manchester United in freefall and Chelsea FC out of the equation, but the humiliating defeat at St.Mary’s on Saturday brought back some familiar doubts in terms of whether Wenger’s side has the mental toughness to win the league.

Wenger backs his side to bounce back against Bournemouth

When asked that question ahead of Arsenal FC’s clash against Bournemouth on Monday, Wenger insisted that his side would show their mental strength on the pitch against Eddie Howe’s men, who have, incredibly, gone undefeated in their last SIX Premier League matches.

Wenger is quoted by the club’s official website as saying: “We are in a job where you have to respond. Unfortunately there is no possible career without disappointment.

“Not even the best players in the world can have that so it is down to how you respond and I trust my players to respond in a very strong way on Monday. I believe what I say to my players is between my players and myself. They have fantastic spirit and they will show that in 48 hours.”

The Gunners’ boss also had words of praise for the newly-promoted Bournemouth, who have deservingly received plaudits for their recent run of form, which has included victories in games against Chelsea FC and Manchester United.

“They have been very good, ” Wenger added. “At the start of the season when they didna t win the games they played very well.”
