[Video] Lyon Denied Thrice In 5 Seconds After Goalkeeper Heroics

Olympique Lyon were held to a 0-0 draw in their Ligue 1 season opener against FC Lorient. The score could have been different if not for the heroics of Lorient goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte.

.

Hubert Fournier’s men were looking to start the new season on a high, however, Lecomte had other plans. The Ligue 1 runners up went close in the first half but were denied in comical fashion as Les Gones failed to score from three attempts in five seconds, a-la-FIFA.

First, highly-rated midfielder Nabil Fekir drilled a low shot, which rebounded off the post. The ball then fell into the path of Alexandre Lacazette, who tried a low shot which was parried away by Lecomte. Lacazette then headed the ball in an attempt to beat the keeper; however, Lecomte somehow rose to tip the ball onto the post, before holding on to the loose ball.

Lacazette has long been linked with a move to the English Premier League, but the striker signed a contract extension with Lyon till 2019.

Here’s a video of the bizarre incident which took place last night at the Stade De Gerland:
