Antoine Griezmann was the hero for Atletico Madrid, as the Vicente Calderon side opened their new La Liga campaign with a 1-0 win over newly promoted Las Palmas.
Atletico Madrid had won the league in 2013/14 season, following which they snapped up the France international Griezmann from Real Sociedad and he duly repaid the faith shown in him by Atletico by smashing in 22 goals in the league in his first season.

Griezmann was heavily linked with Chelsea FC in the summer, and he has once again shown why he is one of the hottest property in world football right now by continuing from where he left off last season.
Griezmann curled in a wonderful free-kick to give Atletico a 1-0 win on the opening day.
