Victor Valdes Hits New Low In Manchester United Career

FC Barcelona - Areas That Require Attention

In the latest news coming from Old Trafford, goalkeeper Victor Valdes has been banned from entering the training ground until the first team squad has left and he will be fined if he does so.

According to goal.com, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has meted out a rather harsh punishment for 33-year-old former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, banning him from any interaction with members of the first team squad.

This was hardly what Valdes had imagined when he signed on for Manchester United in 2014 on a free transfer, after a stellar career at Barcelona. But, it all went sour after reports emerged that Van Gaal had placed him on the transfer list in the summer 2015 transfer window after he allegedly refused to play with the reserve squad.

. Van Gaal Can Be Brutal

Initially brought in to provide backup for fellow Spaniard David De Gea, who seemed like he was going to make a move to Madrid but ended up staying, Valdes suddenly found himself at the end of the pecking order after falling out with manager Louis van Gaal.

David De Gea, Sergio Romero, Anders Lindegaard (who has since left for West Bromwich Albion) and Sam Johnstone were all preferred over the goalkeeper who had enjoyed a great relationship with Van Gaal at Barcelona when he was the coach there.

A possible move to Turkish side Besiktas did not happen over the summer, and the embarrassment continued when he was not even given a squad number for the 2015-16 season. But with this latest humiliation it looks like Victor Valdes will be desperate and ready to move anywhere he can during the January transfer window, with Liverpool and Newcastle United the likely destinations.
