Manchester United’s miserable night in Eindhoven was compounded with the news that Luke Shaw had broken his leg in the tie after a challenge from PSV defender Hector Moreno in the 15th minute.
Shaw was bursting in the area when Moreno slid in with a wild tackle and won the ball, but, his follow through knocked out Shaw.
Manager Louis van Gaal had confirmed that Shaw has broken his leg and reports have been coming through from the Telegraph that the defender is out till March having undergone surgery in Eindhoven last night.
The left-back was in good form for United this season, forming a good partnership with Memphis Depay. United fans were understandably angry and shocked to see the broken leg and Moreno getting away without being red-carded, as evident from the tweets below.
Moreno should not even be on the pitch.

Not quite sure how ref failed to award a penalty and red card to Moreno

Honestly, when a professional does that to another professional, they should just scrap the game. Moreno deserves a huge ban #MUFC

Only thing that you can say about that is that it’s not the joint. Beyond that, give him Aaron’s number…awful to see that happen to anyone

No foul given or anything either?! FFS

.
Shaw was looking fucking quality as well, would’ve been England’s first choice LB without hesitation going into the Euros 🙁

Play in PSV v Man Utd still yet to resume after Luke Shaw suffered a horrible injury. He’s stretchered off needing oxygen. I fear the worst.
