Tottenham On The Move To New 400 Million Pound Stadium

Tottenham Hotspur FC will join the elite group of clubs boasting of state-of-the-art stadiums, come the 2018-19 season, as their stadium renovation plans have been approved by the Haringey Council.

The official Tottenham Hotspur twitter account had some good news for the fans of the club, as they announced the Greater London planning commission’s approval of their plans to renovate White Hart Lane into a world class stadium.

The renovation project has a massive budget of 400 million pounds and the new stadium will have a seating capacity of 61,000, a massive boost from the present 36,284. Tottenham will hope to move into their new grounds before the 2018-19 campaign, if all goes according to plan.

NFL Connection

Earlier this year, Tottenham had reached an agreement with the National Football League of America to host at least 2 NFL games at the stadium for a period of 10 years. This is reflected in their plans, as according to goal.com, “The club submitted a revised plan to the Haringey Council which included the provision for NFL games to be hosted at the stadium, with NFL-specific facilities, such as a retractable roof and larger changing rooms as well as extra facilities for injury recovery.”

A new giant in London

Although Tottenham Hotspur have constantly been competing with the top clubs in England, they have fallen behind because of their relatively weak financial position. All of this is set to change with the new stadium, as a huge boost in revenue from ticket sales as well as money from the NFL deal will put Spurs on the level of London rivals like Arsenal and Chelsea.

The future is looking bright for Tottenham and Spurs fans.
