Tottenham Hotspur have been warned by Jan Vertonghen against selling Hugo Lloris this summer if they want to be taken seriously in the Premier League next season. Hugo Lloris is being linked with a move to Manchester United who seem to be on the lookout for a replacement for David De Gea who is reportedly on his way to Real Madrid this summer.
Hugo Lloris is being billed as David De Geaa s replacement at Old Trafford but Vertonghen has warned Tottenham Hotspur from selling their captain as it could have a detrimental effect on their campaign next season. Vertonghen insisted that if a club wanted to grow in the Premier League, it would have to hold on to their best players. The player also highlighted Llorisa importance in the team and claimed that the keeper would go a long way in helping Tottenham Hotspur compete against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.
a Hea s the captain, very important and this season he was one of our best players. Hea s been outstanding for us and if you want to continue growing as a club you have to keep your best players and Hugo is one of them. I hope Tottenham can keep him. It will be a sign for everyone next year that we want to compete in the Premier League.a
Statistics indicate that De Gea is a better goal-keeper than Hugo Lloris though the Lloris figures as a close replacement for the Spaniard at Old Trafford. With a better number of saves to show this season, the difference between the two goal-keepers, based on statistics, is marginal.
Tottenham Hotspura s Harry Kane is also being linked with a move to Manchester United. With Louis Van Gaal keen to build a team that is expected to challenge for the trophy next season, it remains to be seen if Tottenham Hotspur can indeed hold on to their prized possessions.
