Ter Stegen: “I Don’t Really Like Real Madrid.”

FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has confessed that he does not have much affection for arch-rivals Real Madrid. .

The rivalry between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid is renowned across the footballing world as feisty, intense, and bitter.

At the heart of the rivalry is politics, something that makes it more than a footballing rivalry when the two clubs meet.

The rivalry was at its peak in the modern era with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola locking horns, but, has been slightly lesser on the knife’s edge, if we can at all call it that way, since the departure of the two managers.

Ter Stagen does not like Real Madrid

Ter Stegen has made it pretty clear that he does not like Real Madrid but does go onto say that he has respect for local rivals Espanyol.

The Germany international told reporters: “I don’t really like Real Madrid.”

“We have a big rivalry with Espanyol, because we are from the same city. But there is a lot of respect between us. Those derby games are always very intense.”

Real Madrid and FC Barcelona play each other on 8th November at the Santiago Bernabeu and on 3rd April in Camp Nou in the Spanish League.

Treble is the target again

Ter Stegen, 23, enjoyed a hugely successful debut season at FC Barcelona following his transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach and is hoping to repeat that treble success in 2015-16.

“We want to repeat last season’s success. We will fight for it, although we all realise it will not be easy.”

Despite playing every single minute of their UEFA Champions League campaign and keeping 6 clean sheets in 13 games, the goalkeeper will be hoping to play a bigger role for this side having not played a single game in league with Claudio Bravo preferred to the stopper.
