Sir Alex Ferguson to Juventus: Sell Paul Pogba

Serie A Champions Juventus have been advised by legendary Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson to cash in on highly coveted midfielder Paul Pogba, according to Tuttorsport.

The French midfielder has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs including FC Barcelona, Manchester City, PSG and Arsenal FC, meanwhile bids in the region of a 80 million have been rejected by the Turin club. Pogba was part of Red Devils from 2009 to 2012, before leaving following the expiration of his contract, on a free to Juventus, citing a lack of playing time as the reason.

According to Tuttosport, Sir Alex who was present at Wimbledon, wants Juventus to cash in on the midfielder, after himself seeing him leave on a free for the Old Lady in 2012. The 22-year-old is considered one of the most sought after midfielders in the world right now, winning 3 back-to-back Serie A titles with Juventus since his move to Turin. The Old Lady lost to Barcelona in this year’s Champions League finals, with the Catalan giants said to be Pogba’s preferred destination.

The 73-year-old, while praising Massimiliano Allegri’s side, said- “Yes, I’d sell Pogba,”

“Yes, it’s true I already ended up losing him on a free, but now, if I were Juve, I’d sell.”

“It’s a fantastic team,” . he said. “They’ve won the league four times in a row and in the Champions League I think they were unfortunate because they were hit on the counterattack by Barcelona, but before that they’d dominated the game.”

Juventus have already seen veteran midfielder Andrea Pirlo leave for New York City FC, while rumour is rife that Pogba along with Chilean Copa America winner Arturo Vidal is on the wishlist of many top European clubs. The Old Lady have set a deadline of 31st July for receiving any offers for the magical duo, after which it will not be entertaining any offers for their prized possession. The club has also stated, that neither of the two will be sold, unless the players themselves ask to leave for another club.

Juventus have had a busy transfer window so far, signing three World Class players in Sami Khedira, Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala. While the club has seen veteran Carlos Tevez head to his homeland, while West Ham signed Angelo Ogbonna. The turin club are also said to be interested in the signing of Mesut Ozil from Arsenal or Chelsea’s Oscar, in case one of Pogba or Vidal leave.
