Manchester United target Sergio Ramos has told Real Madrid he wants to quit the club.
The Spanish defender has been disgruntled at the club for a while now and the last few days saw a lot of reports emerging claiming he was looking to quit the club at the wake of Florentino Perez not increasing his wages.
The Guardian now report: The Manchester United target Sergio Ramos has told Real Madrid he wants to leave. The Spain international defender held a meeting with Madrida s chief executive, Jos A?ngel SA?nchez, on Wednesday morning and confirmed his intention to depart after 10 years at the Bernab u. The Spain international asked the club to listen to offers with United having signalled their intention to sign the defender late last week.
The report added that neither the defender, nor the club had made any public statements about their current stands but “privately their positions are clear”. Ramos is said to have visited his lawyer in central Madrid a couple of days back.
Manchester United have the advantage of using Real Madrid’s pretty much public interest in goalkeeper David De Gea, as a factor in negotiations.
The Daily Mail reported that the Red Devils had launched an opening bid for the Spanish defender, ” . Manchester United have lodged an opening bid for Sergio Ramos and the Real Madrid defender has asked his club to consider it. United’s written offer is understood to be around A?35million and came as Ramos met with Real Madrid officials on Wednesday morning and reaffirmed his decision to leave the club.”
While the opening bid is understood to be independent of David de Gea’s move to Real, United will clearly use the Spanish club’s interest in the player for the sale of their prized goalkeeper.
Ramos still has two years left on his contract, so Madrid wona t be pressured into selling the player, but their demand of David de Gea makes it favorable for Manchester United and it seems that the the player could leave in the summer after having spent 10 years at the club.
