Following Real Madrida s 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, youngster Dani Carvajal has been accused of biting Atleticoa s Mario Mandzukic, a claim which has been publicly denied by the Real Madrid defender.
Mario Mandzukic endured a torrid evening at Vicente Calderon as he repeatedly clashed with the Real Madrid defenders and was left bloody after colliding with Sergio Ramos during the game. The striker was also involved in a confrontation with Dani Carvajal with reports suggesting that the defender seemed to a bite and puncha Mandzukic. The two rival players definitely clashed on the pitch and Dani Carvajal could face a UEFA sanction if it were verified that he indeed bit and punched the Atletico Madrid striker.
However Dani Carvajal clarified on social media that he did not bite the striker during the derby.
“I saw that after the game I was accused of biting an opposition player. Let me make clear that I have not bitten anyone, nor did I attempt to do so.”

It now remains to be seen if Dani Carvajal is indeed punished for the alleged incident. Meanwhile Sergio Ramos clarified his clash with Mario Mandzukic, claiming that he did not intentionally elbow the striker which left him bleeding on the pitch.
“I’m not getting into evaluating any fouls. There are referees for that. But I did not know if Mandzukic was near me or far away. I was not intending to hit him.”
While the Madrid derbies are usually a heated affair, Dani Carvajala s clash with Mario Mandzukic could set the wrong precedent if the defender had indeed bitten the striker.
