Real Madrid 2-2 Atletico: Iai??i??m Not Happy With Our Defence, Says Ancelotti

A goal from Fernando Torres in the first minute of either half helped Atletico to reach quarter finals of Copa Del Rey at the expense of Real Madrid and coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted after the defeat that his sidesa defensive lapses are a reason of worry for him now.

Real Madrid had lost to Atletico in the first leg tie at Vicente Calderon by two goals to nil and they were under tremendous pressure to secure a big win in this game. But returning hero of Atletico Madrid, Fernando Torres shattered the dream of Los Blancos by scoring a goal in each half.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos did scored for Real Madrid but it was not enough to help their cause. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said after the game that frequent defensive lapses have become a big headache for him now.

“I would be worried if we had no opportunities to score. We had intensity, rhythm… I cannot worry about that. We scored two goals. The concern is for the defensive mistakes,” said Ancelotti after the game.

“We made mistakes we usually don’t, especially in bringing the ball out of defence. I didn’t think we would make those mistakes. In the first 60 minutes we played very well. At 0-1 it was more complicated, but we tried and played very well.a

This was Real Madrida s fifth game against Atletico this season and the Rojiblancos are still unbeaten against the Los Blancos, something which troubles Carlo Ancelotti.

“We found the formula to beat them last year, but not this year yet. They are a very strong team.a

“We now have three weeks to prepare us for the Champions League and that’s good for the team. After the 0-1 I thought we could win, because the first half went well. After the 1-2, we reacted well but the team began to think it was more difficult.a

Meanwhile, Fernando Torres marked his return to Atletico by scoring two very important goals against Real Madrid and he was extremely happy with his efforts.

“I’m very pleased to score my first two goals after getting back and in a stadium where I had never scored.”

“We are happy,” he told Canal Plus after the match. “We knew it was a hard game. The early goal made us play as we wanted.

“At no time were we worrid about the tie. Playing here against Real Madrid, with a goal so early, things are easier. After the second goal, we were comfortable.”

Atletico will now face FC Barcelona in the quarter finals of Copa Del Rey.
