The January transfer window is here and this time it seems to be going a little slow. However transfer news is slowly brewing and we might be in for a shock on the final day of the transfer markets. Herea s a look at the impact that 5 possible transfers would have on the league.
- Wilfred Bony to Manchester City a One striker who has been in the limelight this season is Wilfred Bony of Swansea.
Bony sublime for Swansea He has been impressive, scoring 9 goals for the Welsh side and remains their top scorer. Having benched the French striker Bafemtimbi Gomis, Bony has taken it upon his shoulder to carry Swansea to greater heights after forging a worthy partnership with teammate Gylfi Sigurdsson. Departure of Bony would be a bigger loss for Swansea than a gain for the star studded Manchester City. Citya s strike force already contains the likes of Aguero, Dzeko, Negrado and Jovetic. With the arrival of Bony, Jovetic might be forced to leave while Negrado who is on loan at Valencia might stay there permanently. Bony not only offers a dynamic powerful striker force alone in a 4-5-1 formation as City fight for their strikers to be fit again, but will also partner up well with one of the likes of Aguero and Dzeko when needed. This might just be the formula for City to catch highflying rivals in blue, Chelsea. On the other hand Swansea will struggle without Bony as their contribution of goals from their other striker has not been exceptional and would mean Swansea will drop points and sink lower into the table.
- Schneiderlin out of Southampton a Last season Southampton were robbed of almost 6 members as Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal poached some of their inform achievers. Schneiderlin however remained at the club and with a new manager and a few new signings has been an integral part of a Southamptona s success. Although Wanyaman, Mane and Pelle have been in great shape for Southampton the loss of Schneiderlin might be a big blow for the saints as he is the heart and soul of their midfield and the team would struggle without his presence.
- Saido Berahino out of West Brom a The newly discovered English talent has been in fine form for West Bromvich Albion. Having Scored 8 goals in the Premier league this season, he has been directly responsible for some of West Brom’s wins and draws. It remains a fact that without Berahinoa s contribution, West Brom would have sunk to the relegation zone. His age and striking ability leaves many rival clubs wanting his service. On top of the list are the two teama s eager to sign a striker Liverpool and Tottenham. Liverpool have struggled with Sturridgea s injury and Balotellia s inconsistency, whilst Lambert has struggled to find a place in the team. In Tottenhama s case Adebayor seems to have absconded as Soldado struggles to fit in to the Premier League, Harry Kane being their only performing striker leaves Pochettino wanting another to come off the bench or play alongside Kane. If Berahino were to leave West Brom, either Liverpool or Tottenham would become stronger competitors for the coveted Champions League Sport whilst West Brom would probably be relegated.
- Fabian Delph to Liverpool a With Gerard announcing that he will put an end to his Liverpool career at the end of this season, Liverpool are in desperate search for a replacement. Although Hederson is touted the next Gerard of the club, the club is in desperate need of some quality in the middle of the park. In comes Fabian Delph of Aston Villa, the box to box midfielder has impressed with his displays for his club as well as for England. Delph although defensively poorer than the Brazilian Lucas, boasts of a higher work rate and better attacking stats. However his arrival might force Lucas to look for greener pastures as the latter has struggled to find regular games under the current management. Delpha s addition to Liverpool will have little impact on their performance as they currently have a similarly styled midfield player in the form of Joe Allen and require a defensive player rather than an attacking one. However if Delph were to move to Liverpool, Aston Villa who are at mid table might drop lower without his services.
- David De Gea to Real Madrid a Manchester United have had a host of new players this season including the likes of Falcao, Di Maria and Daley Blind. However the most impactful player of the season so far has been their goalkeeper, David De Gea. His heroics have saved United from dropping unnecessary points, and he has started to fight Lloris and Courtois for the tag a Best keeper in the Premier League.a However these tags do come with a price, a rich Spanish club trying to sign you. With Real Madrid trying to find a replacement for Iker Cassillas, the Spanish Giants who initially were bidding for Lloris have turned their attention on De Gea. Although news reports of former Madrid president stating they do not need De Gea has come out. What would happen if De Gea were to move? United would be rendered without their best player this season so far. With Victor Valdez their new signing at goal coupled with poor defense who has been saved on numerous occasions by De Gea, United although may score numerous goals would be left conceding as many and might slip a place or two. Meanwhile in Spain, Real Madrid might establish their reign with a complete team.
Although of the above signings only one (Bony) seems to be definite, the unexpected twists that the transfer market has taken in the past has surprised one too many times. A few last day deals by Mourinho or a last minute swoop by Daniel Levy has usually left fans with a lot to talk about with the season ahead.
