Pep Guardiola Rebuffs All Criticism, Says It Has Been A “Super Season” For Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola has rebuffed all criticism by saying that it has been a satisfactory season for the German champions, Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich who had a chance of completing a treble a few weeks ago have faced a serious setback in their campaign. After losing the DFB Pokal semifinal match against rivals Borussia Dortmund in the penalty shootout, Guardiolaa s men have gone down 3-0 against FC Barcelona at Spain in the UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Speaking about the teama s consecutive defeats in the important tournaments, the Spanish manager said, “Super season, super season. If a team chase three titles, win the league, reach the German Cup semi-final and the Champions League semi-final then it is a super, super season.

“How many times did Bayern win a treble? How many?. One time? One time, okay. Of course we wanted to win the treble but it is still an amazing season.”

Pep Guardiola had replaced Jupp Heynckes in 2013 after the club had successfully won a treble under the manager. In the last two seasons, Guardiola have failed to put up a satisfactory show with The Bavarians for which he has been heavily criticized.

Regarding his teama s heavy defeat at Camp Nou, Guardiola said: “We played okay in Barcelona, but not perfect. We want to play our best on Tuesday so that we have the best possible chance,” he added. “There are still 90 minutes left and in football a lot can happen.”
