‘Penniless’ FC Barcelona To Look For Loan Deals In January Transfer Window?

The Catalan giants are in need of signing new players, but reportedly do not have enough funds to do it in the January 2016 transfer window.

FC Barcelona have been touted as one the teams to beat in La Liga this year, as in other years too, but they have been troubled by injuries — especially that of their star man Lionel Messi. There has been a lot of speculation about whether the Argentine forward would be fit for the upcoming El Clasico . this Saturday.

While Messi’s situation is still not clear, the FC Barcelona coaching staff seem to be looking for reinforcement from the January transfer window, until which they face a transfer embargo. However, their biggest problem seems to be the fact that they do not have much left in their coffers, according to Spanish news portal Sport.

“Barcelona’s technical staff are still looking for the best option to achieve success this season with the incorporation of an attacking player in the winter window,” said Lluis Miguelsanz’s report in Sport.

“The board is not opposed to the idea and will study the options, but the budget is nearly nothing. There will be no extravagance until June. “

Luis Enrique to look for loan moves if money is not an option

However, as the club might not have enough in their coffers to sanction any major transfers, the club could go for loan deals, with the option to make it permanent in the summer (when they are expected to have more cash).

It would be interesting to see how many players are actually interested in that kind of a deal, especially in the January transfer window. A few more signings would really strengthen an already formidable FC Barcelona squad, with talisman Messi soon to return to the fore.
