Villarreal president Fernando Roig has confirmed that Liverpool and Manchester United target Luciano Vietto has been sold to Atletico Madrid.
Argentine forward Luciano Vietto is set to join Atletico Madrid, confirmed Fernando Roig. The Villarreal president announced that the striker has been sold to Atletico Madrid.
“We have sold Vietto to Atletico Madrid,” Villarreal supremo Roig . said in a press conferance on Monday.
Vietto joined Villarreal from Rayo Vallecano last season. The forward enjoyed a highly successful debut season for the a Yellow Submarinesa . He scored 12 goals in 32 league appearances to help Villarreal finish sixth in La Liga. The striker also attracted interest from Premier League clubs Manchester United and Liverpool with some impressive performances throughout the season.
Diego Simeone had revealed earlier that imminently Atletico Madrid will sign Vietto and it seems that the manager has succeeded in luring the striker to the club. The news has come to the fore after Atletico Madrid agreed a deal with Juventus to offload former Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic.
