Liverpool FC announced today that Jordan Henderson will take over the captaincy on a permanent basis from Steven Gerrard who left his boyhood club to join the LA Galaxy.
Henderson was visibly delighted even though he seemed the obvious choice after the club appointed him as vice-captain last season after Daniel Agger was sold. He said, a Ia m absolutely delighted and proud. It is a great honour and a huge privilege to be named as the captain of this football club.”
Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers also heaped praise on Henderson and explained the former Sunderland midfieldera s appointment: a Jordan is someone who leads through example a through his actions, attitude and application. He shows total commitment to the game and is a role model professional.a
Liverpool FC Legend and former captain Steven Gerrard also gave a thumbs up to Henderson’s appointment.
He said, a Jordana s been loyal to the club by signing a new deal and I wish him well. Jordana s so professional, hea s a winner, a great lad. I dona t think therea s a more fitting player to take that armband off me. I see a lot of my game in Jordana s game and what I like about him is hea s very humble.a
Following the news, Liverpool FC fans took to twitter and looked more than happy with the appointment of the former Sunderland academy graduate as the captain, while rivals fans poked fun.
