Liverpool FC right back and new signing Nathaniel Clyne has revealed how Adam Lallana persuaded the former Southampton man to make the A?12.5million move to Anfield.

Fresh from the acquisition of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim in a 29 million pound deal last week, Liverpool FC pulled off another coup by snapping up Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton, announcing the deal on Wednesday.

The England right back signed a five year deal worth 90k per week as Liverpool FC addressed one of the priority position they had to fill this transfer window and it was done right under the noses of hated rivals Manchester United, who had been keeping tabs on Clyne, even though they had not made a bid for the player as per reports.

Clyne has now revealed that former Southampton captain Adam Lallana, who joined Liverpool in a 25 million move last summer, was instrumental in persuading the player to chose the Merseyside giants.

a Adam and I spoke a lot,a Clyne said.a He said he wanted me to sign and I said if the deal moves along and gets done, Ia d be with him as a team-mate once again. We enjoyed our time over there in America.

a He said ita s a good club – a big club with a huge fan base. He said the team is good and a good bunch of lads. He told me Ia d be made to feel welcome if I joined.

.

a Knowing a few of the players at the club is good. I can join in with the lads and I reckon Ia ll settle down easily.a

Brendan Rodger’s signing

Clyne, who started his career with Crystal Palace, believes Liverpool FC is the perfect place for him to realise his potential with the defender eager to repay the faith shown in him by boss Brendan Rodgers, who had pinpointed Clyne as the ideal replacement for Glen Johnson as per Liverpool Echo.

a Ia m delighted and ita s a dream move for me to come here and play for such a big club like Liverpool with all of its history. I cana t wait to get started,a he said.

a I like the way they play and their style. The gaffer has shown a lot of interest in me and this is a place where I can improve as a player.

a He works with young players and helps them progress. I still think there is a lot to come from me and hopefully he can bring the best out of me.

a Hea s said he can do one-on-ones with me if it helps and do individual training sessions. I am going to work hard to try and get myself into the team and be the best player I can be.a

Clyne is the sixth signing of what is a very busy summer at Liverpool FC. The player reiterated his hunger to succeed and is convinced he can achieve his target of winning silverware with the Reds.

a You can see wea ve got the players to do it,a he said.a Ia m sure with all the competitions wea re going into this year, wea ll be going into them looking to try and win them. I want to be competing for all the titles and trophies that are available. Hopefully we can have a good season.

a There is room for improvement and you can see with the signings that have been made, wea re pushing for it. If we get a good pre-season out of the way and start the season brightly, ita ll be looking good.a
