Arsenal FC star Mesut Ozil is targeting success on all fronts and is particularly confident of Premier League glory for the Gunners.
Giving his take on what he described as the “hardest” campaign of his career, the 26-year-old Germany playmaker is sure Arsene Wenger‘s side can build on the FA Cup successes over the last two years by improving both domestically and in Europe.
Ozil said: “We had bad luck with injuries this season, but next season we can win the Premier League and go further in the Champions League.”
“The first time in my life I had to deal with a serious injury. It feel it was a consequence of playing a lot games without a break over years,” added Ozil.
. Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal for a club-record A?42.5m deal in September 2013 and since then has been somewhat hit and miss for a player of his stature who is expected to go out on the pitch and blow teams away.
Reviewing his performances for the season, Ozil said: “I was happy with the second half of the season. I wanted to show everybody that I am back. Winning the FA Cup means it was a successful year, so I am proud of that win.”
“My best moment (of the season) was the first game back after my injury against Stoke (in January). The fans cheered a lot when I was brought on. That was a brilliant feeling and helped me a lot.”
“From then on I understood: no matter what happened, the club and the fans are always with me.
“But the most important thing is the opinion of my coach. I have a lot more self-confidence when he is with me. I always had that feeling with Arsene Wenger.”
Arsenal FC begin their pre season by heading to Asia for July’s Barclays Asia Trophy Singapore, where both Everton and Stoke will also feature.
Should Mesut Ozil strike his best form and Arsenal FC prevent key players from injury, which has not been the case in the last few years, Arsenal FC will certainly have a very good chance to end a title drought that has lasted for more than a decade, now.
