New FC Barcelona signing Arda Turan reckons that Cristiano Ronaldo is a “special” player, but the Real Madrid superstar will never reach the same level as Lionel Messi who is the greatest player ever.
After weeks of speculation, FC Barcelona confirmed that they had signed Arda Turan for a 34 million with a a sell-backa clause to Atletico Madrid which could be exercised till the 20th July, on Tuesday.
The player did sign a five year contract with the Catalan giants, but, will not be able to play any official game for the club till their transfer ban is in place upto January 2016.
Arda Turan said that he never had any doubts about moving to the treble winners and is looking forward to line up alongside the man he believes to be the greatest footballer of all time – Lionel Messi.
“Cristiano is special but he’ll never be like Messi,” the 28-year-old told reporters at a press conference on Friday.
“I don’t think that there’s ever been anyone like Messi – or ever will be.”
However, Arda Turan went onto admit he idolizes Andres Iniesta more and is hoping to get a chance to play alongside him and FC Barcelona’s attacking trio of Messi, Neymar, and Suarez.
a Hopefully I will play play alongside Iniesta, Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez,” he stated. “I think you can see that picture of the five of us playing together.
“At Atletico, I always said that Messi is the best player in the world, but Iniesta is my idol.”

Arda Turan was a regular in the Atletico Madrid side that won the league title in 2013-14 and was again a key player as the side finished third in 2014-15 with 32 appearances, 2 goals and 4 assists.
