Liverpool FC have agreed personal terms with Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic according to reports in his native Croatia.

Kovacic has emerged as a serious target for Brendan Rodgers and the Italian media have been reporting of negotiations between Liverpool FC and Inter Milan for the Croatian playmaker since a week, now.

The Croatian media now reports that an agreement between the player and Liverpool FC have been reached, however, Inter Milan are yet to agree a fee and despite a 21 million Euro offer by Liverpool FC.

It has emerged that Inter are looking for a fee closer to the 25 million Euro mark having refused a similar bid from FC Barcelona last summer.

Kovacic signed for Inter Milan in January 2013 from Dinamo Zagreb for 11 million Euros and the Serie A outfit will want to make a significant profit on the player who has shown his talent in the Nerazzurri shirt with his best years ahead of him.

Liverpool FC defender Dejan Lovren further fueled the rumor with a picture of him and Kovacic on his Instagram. Kovacic is already thought to have played his final game for Inter Milan as Roberto Mancini looks to rebuild the Inter side around a new midfield.

Kovacic is seen as an ideal successor to Steven Gerrard by Liverpool who will be hoping to get the deal done for the Croatian quickly. He fits the profile of the type of player Liverpool FC want – young, resale value, talented, technically gifted.

With Inter Milan not in Europe this season, Liverpool FC have the profile as well as money to bring the playmaker to Merseyside.

Brendan Rodgers has already snapped up James Milner. Inter Milan’s interest in Lucas Leiva means that he could be used as a makeshift in the deal involving Kovacic.
