Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus is set to leave the club as reports suggest the player has reached an agreement with Real Madrid.
Germany international Marco Reus has been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund for a long time now. Clubs like Chelsea, Bayern, Manchester United and Real Madrid are reportedly keen on signing the winger.
According to El Confidencial, Marco Reus has decided to join Real Madrid as the winger has reportedly agreed a 5-year deal with the European champions. It is believed that Reus will earn a 7 million a year, the same as Kroos and Benzema currently do. The salary is said to be almost double of what Reus earns at Borussia Dortmund.
In order to sign the German winger, Real Madrid will have to shell out a 25 million to release him from his Dortmund contract. Real Madrid will not hesitate to meet the buy-out clause to acquire Reusa signature.
The potential contract could be signed in the summer to bring Reus in. Reus is currently under contract at Dortmund until 2017.
Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke recently spoke about Reusa future and declared that it is now up to the player to decide his future.
“I still have the hope that he stays with us for a long time,” Watzke said. “But if he decides differently, that’s the way it is. One of the challenges in football is to benefit from changes in the squad or create other things.”
Marco Reus has had a year that he would like to forget. The attacker missed the World Cup through injury and also missed major part of Dortmunda s disastrous season through fitness issues. The winger returned to training only last week following a third ankle injury.
Carlo Ancelotti currently boasts of one of the best squads in the world at this moment. Real Madrid’s squad is fully equipped with one of the worlda s finest attackers. Ancelotti is not short of options in the midfield or attack where Reus plays. However, Real Madrid may use Reus as a centre-forward, the position currently occupied by Karim Benzema.
Rues, only 25-years old, is a player with great abilities but he is prone to injuries. If Reus makes the move to Real Madrid, he might be forced to spend most of his time on the bench. If the German wants to make it to the Ancelottia s playing 11, he will have to beat Bale, Ronaldo, James or Isco to it. However, the arrival of Reus could also lead to Balea s rumoured departure from Real Madrid to Manchester United coming true.
