Javier Mascherano Worried After FC Barcelona Were Outplayed By Celta Vigo

FC Barcelona crashed to a 4-1 loss to Celta Vigo last night that eneded their four game winning run in the league. Barca defender Javier Mascherano has expressed his worry in the manner they were comprehensively outplayed in the game by Celta Vigo in every department.

Barcelona’s 4-game winning run in the league was halted by a inspired Celta Vigo side that continue their 10-game unbeaten run in the league. The win means Celta have now leapfrogged Barcelona in the table with 13 points, same as leaders Real Madrid.

Celta Vigo’s goals came from defender Mallo, and their dangerous forward Iago Aspas and Nolito, a former Barca B player that once again tortured Balugrana’s defence as he had done last season in Celta’s 1-0 win at Camp Nou.

The Celta front three has now scored 10 goals in 5 La Liga outings with Nolito leading their personal battle with 5 strikes.

Mascherano worried about the manner of the loss

Manager Luis Enrique has already paid tribute to the incredible performance of Celta Vigo, and it was defender Javier Mascherano who admitted that Celta comprehensively outplayed them in all department.

As quoted saying by ESPN FC in the aftermath of the game, he said: “They were just better than us, not just in the result, but in the play, which is what most worries me.

“Often you can be beaten in the result, but not deserve it on the balance of play, but Celta were better in every position and deserved to win.”

“Those of us who have been a while in football, we know there can be a day when the opponent is better than you, and wins all the second balls and the individual duels, and does not give you any chance,” Mascherano added.

“It’s partly our own fault, and partly down to the opponent, who played a perfect game. There are no excuses. They beat us well, we must hang our heads. I believe the most worrying thing was we were not as good as the opponent. When you feel totally outplayed in the game, it’s an ugly feeling.”

Mascherano urges team mates to bounce back

The Argentine defender, though worried by the manner of the loss, urged his team-mates to bounce back from the defeat.

.

“At Barcelona it always hurts to lose and the demand is there to win every game,” he said. “But this is not new for us. The best way to turn the page is next Saturday. This has just begun. We must reflect on last season. There are difficult moments and you must put yourself back together.”
