Hoping to compete for the English Premier League title against . Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal next season, Manchester United reportedly have a A?200 million budget as Louis Van Gaal prepares to assemble a world class squad at Old Trafford. But with the new players coming in, who are the ones that are likely to head for the door in order to make space for Louis Van Gaala s summer spree? Leta s take a look.
Robin Van Persie
With the clock ticking on Robin Van Persie, it seems that the Dutchman has run its course at Old Trafford as he looks for a move away from Manchester United in order to get more game-time as he prepares himself for Euro 2016. Van Persie is himself aware of the fact that he is unlikely to figure in Manchester Uniteda s line-up next season and is preparing for a move away after a poor season under Van Gaal.
Having arrived from Arsenal, Van Persie took Manchester United by a storm and led the club to a Premier League trophy as Sir Alex Ferguson bid goodbye to Old Trafford. The Dutch striker however, didnt seem to recover from the loss as his form plummeted under David Moyes and Van Gaal. It seems that the Dutchman is conscious of his position and hence is looking for a new lease of life, hinting previously that he could follow in the footsteps of Patrice Evra who moved to Juventus and achieved success in the Italian Serie A.
Javier a Chicharitoa Hernandez
Deemed a surplus to the requirements at Manchester United, Chicharito was shipped off to Real Madrid as Van Gaal took the reins at Old Trafford and it seems unlikely that the manager will accept him back into the fold this summer. Playing second fiddle to Wayne Rooney and Van Persie at Manchester United, Chicharito did not help his cause after moving to Real Madrid where he was sparsely used by Carlo Ancelotti. The Mexican international remained on the bench for the most part of the season and only came on during the latter stages of the season as Karim Benzema remained unavailable due to injuries.
However Chicharito put forward a good display at Santiago Bernabeu and his stay at Madrid will perhaps be best remembered for his goal against Atletico Madrid that helped take Real Madrid to the semi-finals of the Champions League. But with Florentino Perez refusing to make his loan permanent, it seems that Chicharito is once again officially a Manchester United player, waiting for a new club this summer.
Nani
The arrival of Angel Di Maria seemed to push Nani away from Manchester United as the Portuguese winger was loaned to Sporting Lisbon last summer. And though Nani remains optimistic about a move back to Old Trafford, it seems that Van Gaal will finally offload the winger as suitors from Italy reportedly express their interest in his services.
With Memphis Depay arriving at Manchester United, Van Gaal will have the likes of Angel Di Maria, Ashley Young, Juan Mata and the new Dutchman fighting for a spot on the wings, leaving Nani looking for a new club at the start of the summer transfer season.
Adnan Januzaj
The same fate seems to await Adnan Januzaj who is likely to be loaned this summer with Manchester United keeping a close eye on his development. The Belgian international was touted as the next Ryan Giggs and was even handed the coveted No 11 jersey at Manchester United but the winger failed to take Old Trafford by a storm under Louis Van Gaal. Having featured in 18 Premier League games, Januzaj does not have a single goal or an assist to show for himself. And while that is not the only criteria to judge a winger, Januzaj failed to earn enough game-time and is likely to be loaned in order to develop himself as a player.
Rafael
Though the Brazilian was one of the hottest talents coming up the ranks under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson, the right-back seems to have fizzled out and was relegated to the bench in favour of Antonio Valencia under Louis Van Gaala s reign.
To be fair, Rafael suffered a series of injuries last season that eventually took a toll on his form. However even when the right-back was fit, he was left out of the starting eleven as Valencia claimed his spot for most of the season. Manchester United were keenly linked with Barcelonaa s Dani Alves as a potential replacement but with the Brazilian signing a contract extension with the treble winners, there is a slim chance that Rafael might be given a second chance under Louis Van Gaal.
