Manchester United Team News: Wayne Rooney, Carrick Fit; Rojo, Jones, Herrera Back As United Hope To Get Back To Winning Way

Manchester United travel to Merseyside to take on Everton FC, hoping to get back to winning ways. Louis van Gaal has been boosted by the return to action of star striker Wayne Rooney and other players.

Rooney, who had missed the internationals for England during the break against Estonia and Lithuania due to an ankle problem, has been deemed fit and will be available. Midfielder Michael Carrick also has no problem, despite missing the England games during the midweek.

However, countryman Ashley Young will not be available, as confirmed by manager Louis van Gaal to the Guardian.

Marcos Rojo and Ander Herrera have recovered from the injury and have been certified as fit, as is Phil Jones, who played for 90 minutes for England against Lithuania.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was hurt in the warm up for Germany against the Republic of Ireland, missing the 1-0 loss as well as 1-1 draw against Georgia in Leipzig.

.

However, the 31-year-old’s status remains unclear, with manager Louis van Gaal failing to mention whether or not he is fit, in his pre-match press conference.

Paddy McNair, who ruptured his liver during the break playing for Northern Ireland, will be out for at least a month.

United will hope to put their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal FC aside and look to maintain or close the gap on league leaders Manchester City who are two points ahead of them.
