Manchester United Player Ratings Vs QPR: Falcao Disappoints Again

Falcao Snubbed Again

Manchester United grabbed the away win against QPR but there performance was far from convincing. The Red Devils did keep a clean sheet and scored two goals away from home, but they looked vulnerable at times and they should thank their stars that QPR failed to make good of the chances that came their way. A decent overall performance from Manchester United but the 3-5-2 formation is still not bringing out the best of the Manchester United players.

Here is how the Manchester United players fared against Queens Park Rangers

De Gea 7.5/10 a The Spaniard had little work to do as the home side were very poor when it came to finishing the chances that came their way. However, Austin gave the keeper a lot to deal with and unsurprisingly De Gea came out on top. The keeper continues his scintillating form in goal.

Phil Jones 8/10 a The centre back gave a strong performance in the three-man defence. The defender made few mistakes and was also surprisingly seen taking a few corners. Jones was solid at the back and put up a good show.

Johnny Evans 7/10 a Evans started the game ahead of Chris Smalling as Van Gaal called up the defender at last minute. The centre-back looked shaky early on, but improved as the game went on. Evans did a good job alongside Jones and Rojo in the three man defence.

Marcos Rojo 8/10 a Marcos Rojo looked edgy at times in the first half. Rojo allowed Bobby Zamora to get under his skin but improved as the game went on and produced a combative display in the defence.

Michael Carrick 7.5/10 a Michael Carrick had a good day in the office for Manchester United. Playing as the defensive midfielder in Van Gaala s highly attacking 3-5-2 formation, Carrick did a great job and did not allow much penetration for the opposition. The midfielder also saw a lot of the ball.

Antonio Valencia 7/10 a Valencia had a decent game on the right wing. Though he didna t impress much, he showed great awareness to pick out Fellaini for Uniteda s opener.

Daley Blind 6.5/10 a Blind was played on the wing against his preferred position, deep in the midfield. Blind was tidy on the ball but did not offer much from the wings.

Juan Mata 6/10 a Mata played some good football alongside Wayne Rooney in the midfield. The Spaniard created the best chance for United when he played in Falcao in the first half before being subbed off at half-time.

Wayne Rooney 7/10 a Rooney continued in his midfield role and was good on the ball. However the Englishman would have been more threatening had he played upfront.

Angel Di Maria 6/10 a Playing Di Maria as a striker doesna t really make sense but that is where Van Gaal started the Argentine. Di Maria offered nothing as a striker playing alongside Falcao but improved later in the game as he moved into a deeper role.

Radamel Falcao 5/10 a Falcao was in the right position at the right time and should have got himself a goal or two. Instead the Colombian ended another game without getting on the scoresheet. Falcaoa s disappointing performances are raising doubts about his future at United.

Substitutes

Marouane Fellaini 8/10 a Came on as a half-time substitute to replace Mata. Though brought in to add to the defensive strength, Fellaini ended up scoring the winner from 12 yards. Overall, the Belgian had a very good game.

James Wilson 7.5/10 a The young striker put on a great show as he came on and increased the tempo of the game. Wilson set up Falcao, only for the striker to miss the chance and also scored a goal in the dying minutes to give Manchester United a comfortable 2-0 margin.

Ander Herrera NA a Came on in dying seconds.
