Despite spending over 200 million over two windows, Louis van Gaal admits that Manchester United are still lacking a top quality player that makes the difference between a good team and a great one. In a recent interview, Van Gaal had hinted at the signing of a creative marquee player, but completely rules out Ronaldo to be the said player.

Whilst the last comment would have had both Young an Mata perplexed, van Gaal is aware that United need an X-Factor when it comes to the biggest stage in Europe. While the likes of Young and Mata have earned their plaudits, there’s no denying that the Red Devils need a bit extra to go over the line.
