Manchester United changed the look of their squad in the summer of 2014. This process of rebuilding to certain to continue in 2015 as well as the Old Trafford giants are looking to sign some more exciting young players this summer. And the player who has caught the attention of the club now is Benfica star Salvio.
After missing out on the Champions League, Manchester United made a statement of their intent in the summer of 2014 by splashing more than 150 pounds on the likes of Angel di Maria, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Ander Herrera.
The club also appointed Louis van Gaal as the new manager and it appears now that there is some improvement in the performance levels of Manchester United in the new season. However, the Old Trafford giants are still far away from challenging for top honours in Europe and the process of rebuilding, which started after the retirement of Sir Alex, is expected to be continued in the summer of 2015 as well.
Manchester United authorities are keeping a tab on the progress of host of young players across Europe but the one who is on top of manager Louis van Gaala s wish list is Benfica attacker Salvio.
Salvio, 24, has caught the attention of some of Europea s top clubs with his excellent displays for Benfica this season and Manchester United have even sent the scouts on numerous occassions to watch the youngster play.
It is being reported that Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal has received positive feedback about the skill set of Salvio and he has given his green signal to the club management to open the talks of possible transfer with the agent of the player.
The contract of Salvio at Benfica is set to expire in the summer of 2017 but the youngster has so far shown the reluctance to extend the same.
Meanwhile, reports coming from England and Portugal have also confirmed the interest of Manchester United in Salvio.
Daily Mirror has claimed in its story today that Manchester United are on alert over Eduardo Salvio’s ongoing contract talks at Benfica. The Argentina winger, 24, is currently tied to the Lisbon club until 2017, but wary of interest in his services the Portuguese giants are keen to extend.
