Manchester United Fed Up With Memphis Depay’s Arrogance As Per Former Dutch Internationals

Former Dutch International Youri Mulder has claimed that Manchester United are fed up of winger Memphis Depay for thinking that he is a “big star”, while Pierre van Hooijdonk has also said less than kind words about the attitude of the 21-year-old.

Depay joined United with a 30m GBP deal in the summer after finishing the season as the top scorer in the Dutch league.

The Netherlands international has been unable to hit the heights of his PSV days, though, as he is still adjusting to life at Old Trafford.

Mulder claims United tired of Depay’s arrogance

Former Twente and Schalke player Mulber was quoted saying by Goal.com that the club are far from impressed by the ‘star’ attitude shown by Depay, while he has failed to settle in at the club.

.

He said: “He played one good match for United, against Club Brugge [in the Champions League]. In the Premier League he suffers, yet his attitude suggests that he is a big star.

“It seems that people at Manchester United are starting to get fed up with this.”

Pierre van Hooijdonk joins the list of name having a go at Depay

The retired Dutch forward also lashed out at Depay, suggesting that he thinks too much of himself and delivers too little.

“The stats of Memphis do not weigh up against his attitude off the pitch,” he said.

“He hasn’t been the player that Oranje needed, especially when Robben was unavailable.”

Depay has scored just four goals in twelves games since joining the Old Trafford outfit in the summer. He has had a history of his attitude being questioned, with his stint at PSV Eindhoven littered with controversial incidents.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman, who had worked with Depay earlier had said that the 21-year-old is far from consistent, while the top Dutch scout Henk Grim had labelled his on-pitch behaviour “disgusting”.

Grim has been tracking Depay over the past five years and had said: a I always work with a list of five specific qualities: skills, tactics, physique, attitude, personality. I did not get any higher with my average ratings than 5.6 out of 10.

“And you know what brought the rating down most of all? The rating for his personality. It is only because of the fact that I could not go any lower than zero out of 10, otherwise I would have rated him well below that.”

Depay’s problems only seem to be multiplying at United, if one goes by the comments of the Netherlands internationals.
