Manchester United net spend had reached almost zero, having sold of di Maria for a mammoth fee. The club had problems in their attacking department, as Wayne Rooney is continuing to fire blanks in the league and back up forward Javier Hernandez is set to be sold.

The club have decided to sign the 19-year-old French forward Anthony Martial from Monaco for a massive fee of A?36m. And quite evidently, the deal has shocked everyone. The French striker, while a talent, has scored only 11 goals in 42 appearance last season for Monaco. The season before that, he scored 3 in 11 games all season.
