The current Barcelona president confirmed that the treble-winning manager will continue at the club despite doubts about his future.

Luis Enrique led Barcelona to a Champions League victory and the Catalans also became the only club to win a treble of trophies for the second time in history. The former Celta Vigo coacha s debut season was a grand success despite a slow start. However, despite a dream debut campaign with the Catalans, Enrique remains unsure of his Barcelona future.

However, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has come forward and assured that he is confident that Enrique will continue at Barcelona and he will also suggest a contract extension for the Spaniard. The Spanish giants will hold presidential elections this summer and if Bartomeu wins, he will offer to extend Enriquea s current contract which has one more season on it.

Bartomeu said: “I have no doubt regarding Luis Enrique’s continuity. He is under contract and has done a magnificent job.

“I don’t see any impediments for him to continue in a team who have started a winning cycle. I see him as being very enthusiastic.

“If I am re-elected as president, one of the things I will do is offer Luis Enrique a contract extension.”

The president also spoke about right-back Dani Alves, whose future at the club remains doubtful as the Brazilian is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to sign an extension. He confirmed that Alves has been offered a new contract and there will be no improvements in it.

“He has our offer and we believe it’s a good one for him to continue in the best club in the world,” Bartomeu said. “It’s up to Alves to decide.

“He has had our offer for several weeks now and he has to make the move. It’s our final offer, there will be no other.”

Bartomeua s comments regarding Enriquea s future have come at the right time as it will possibly clear out all doubts about the Spaniarda s departure. Enrique has done a magnificent job in his first season at the club winning the treble and also improving the Spanish sidea s gameplay. The former Celta coach definitely deserves to remain at the club for a long time.
