Luis Enrique: Pedro May Live To Regret His Decision To Join Chelsea

FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique believes that Pedro Rodriguez may live to regret his decision to leave the Catalan club and join Chelsea.

Pedro left FC Barcelona in the summer and joined the London club in a deal worth a 30million. Despite scoring on his debut for Chelsea against West Brom, Pedro has failed to add to his tally in the subsequent matches he has played in the Premier League.

Pedro’s former boss Luis Enrique has now come out and remarked that the Spanish International may be ruing his decision to join the reigning English champions.

Pedro may regret joining Chelsea

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s clash with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Saturday, Enrique remarked, “We know what the situation was with Pedro, we understand it, it’s logical, he wanted to play more and over the course of a player’s career you have to make decisions.”

“Perhaps now he might want to change that decision I don’t know,” the Asturian added.

“It’s not a question of us missing him, that’s what life in football is like.”

Enrique open to Spain job in the future

Enrique further went on to reveal that he may be open to take over from Vicente Del Bosque as the next manager of Spain after the Castilian steps down.

Asked about managing Spain in the future, Enrique said, a If I would like to manage the national team? Yes, I would. A lot.a

Del Bosque has been incharge of Spain since 2008 after taking over from Luis Aragones and is expected to step down from his position after Euro 2016.

Enrique also addressed rumours of Lionel Messi being rushed back from injury by Argentina manager Gerardo Martino.

Enrique addresses a whole host of issues in his press conference

FC Barcelona play a low key affair against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday night and naturally not many questions directed at Enrique in his press conference were centred around the match.

Although Pedro has fallen victim to Chelsea’s disastrous start to the new Premier League campaign, it is safe to say that, on a personal level, the highly rated Spanish International has yet to hit the ground running in the Barclays Premier League.

Enrique extended his contract up till 2017 at the beginning of the season and the possibility of him taking over as the next manager of Spain after Del Bosque leaves is a long shot at the moment. With the statement he made at the weekend however, Enrique has thrown his name firmly into the hat.
