FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has paid tribute to his former side Celta Vigo after they beat them 4-1 last night, despite the Blaugrana creating a host of chances themselves.
FC Barcelona were beaten 4-1 last night away at Celta Vigo, with the Gallician side ending the 4 match unbeaten run of the Blaugrana to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games in the league.
Celta Vigo’s front three had scored seven goals and three assists in four La Liga outings before the game and they chipped in with another three strikes as Nolito (1) and Iago Aspas (2), both, got on the score sheet.
Enrique laments missed chances
The front three of Barcelona all had great chances of their own, but, could not make it count. Speaking in the aftermath of the game, Barca manager Luis Enrique said that it was “strange” to see his side miss so many chances when Celta had been deadly in front to the goal.
As quoted saying by ESPN FC, he said: “In terms of intensity we were good. We had six or seven chances. It is strange that we did not take them. It took a lot for us to take a chance, considering who these players are. These situations happen and we have to resolve them.
.
“Football often comes down to one-on-ones and in the first half we suffered a lot. Before the 1-0 we had two or three chances and didn’t score. Then came Nolito’s goal in the top corner, and then another mistake in the 2-0. I congratulate Celta and urge them to keep playing like this.”
Enrique “prefers to lose to a team like Celta”
Paying tribute to this former side’s wonderful display, Enrique said that Celta beat them in every sense.
“Today you have seen how well Celta can play,” he said. “That is why we have lost. They played a very good game, in all senses. Today you can only congratulate them. They created many chances and one on ones. They played a very good game in terms of efficiency and football. I prefer to lose to a team like Celta, with no tricks. The grass was cut, watered, a good opponent, good football. I am delighted to have formed part of the history of Celta.”
